At The Bird Ranch we love to create our Perfect Nest, we love learning from nature and finding simple ways to create the ranch more sustainable. We are big fans of solar energy. While solar panels can be expensive to install upfront, they are a wonderful way to save energy and natural resources over time. Solar panels are our goal but in the mean time, nearly 80% of our outdoor lighting is already powered by solar energy and and we are continuing to grow.
One of the greatest issues in California is water conservation. At The Bird Ranch, we try to reduce waste, save resources, and make the property more self-sustaining through water-wise practices. Some easy conservation tips include using drip irrigation systems, planting drought-tolerant landscaping, and reusing greywater to help water plants and gardens.
Small changes can make a big difference in creating your own Pefect Nest.
The CA native plants featured in these photos are part of our wetland and butterfly habitat restoration project.
